Selecting the right wedding officiant is a crucial decision that can set the tone for your special day. Your officiant kicks off the public part of the day and sets the tone for the rest of your wedding. But with so many options out there, it can be overwhelming to know where to start. To help you find the right wedding officiant for you, here are seven helpful tips:
  1. Ask for referrals from recently married couples who had their ceremony in a nearby location to yours. Referrals are often the most reliable source of recommendations.
  2. Check with your venue’s event manager for a list of preferred vendors, including officiants. Your venue’s staff will only recommend officiants who have proven to be good at what they do.
  3. Conduct an internet search for wedding officiants in your area. While vendor directories like WeddingWire and The Knot will rank highest in search results, you can also find local officiants who are passionate about their craft by scrolling down further. If an officiant cares enough about his performance at your wedding ceremony, that will be reflected in the quality of their website.
  4. Utilize wedding vendor directory websites like WeddingWire and The Knot, which feature well-established and experienced vendors.
  5. Ask other vendors you've already hired, such as DJs, photographers, and videographers, for recommendations. They have likely worked with numerous officiants and can offer valuable insights.
  6. Read reviews on sites like Google, WeddingWire, The Knot, or Thumbtack. Officiants with positive reviews are more likely to provide a high-quality ceremony.
  7. Consider asking a friend or family member to officiate your wedding. However, be cautious. Experience matters and makes a huge difference. But if you know someone you are close to and they have enough experience to handle such an important role, this is an option to consider.
Once you have a list of potential officiants, reach out to them and see how quickly they respond. A quick response is a good sign of reliability. Talk to them to get a sense of their personality and make sure they are a good fit for you and your fiancé. With these tips, you'll be sure to find the perfect officiant to lead your wedding ceremony.

Good afternoon. Sam sent me your link as he is not available on this date…to inquire if you could possibly officiate my Fiancé Lenny and I getting married in Daytona at Perry’s Ocean Edge on the 4th of July. It will be a simple wedding…as we have been together for a decade but decided to get married with all of our family there on vacation. I’m not set on a time as whatever you have available I will make work. Please advise as our hotel just let us know that the officiant they had resigned and now we have no one. Thank you for your time

Hi Theresa. Unfortunately I am not available either that day. Big family day for us so I don't do weddings on the 4th of July.

If you have flexibility I can do it the 3rd or the 5th.
